The first time I saw you my heart whispered “that’s the one”

Who We Are
We are Warren and Veldene, and if you have a few minutes, we'd love to tell you how we got here.
We officially met at 16 — though technically we'd met once before, sixteen years earlier. (Yes, you read that right. That's a story for another day, and trust us, it's a good one.)
A brief hello, some idle chit chat, and then nothing. We didn't see each other again for two years.
At 18, we crossed paths again at a Bible School in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. Best friends immediately. Dating soon after. Engaged at 19, married at 20. When you know, you know.
Having grown up with similar values and a shared faith, we found ourselves moving through the stages of life together with surprising ease. Not every day was graceful, but most of them were good, and all of them were ours.
Nearly 40 years later, we are still best friends. Still each other's favourite person to call, travel with, cook for, and laugh at. We've built a life together that we're genuinely proud of, raised two beautiful kids who no longer need us quite as much as they used to, but still loving to hang out together (we're choosing to see that as a win).We know that a happy marriage doesn't happen by accident. It takes intention, humour, and the occasional spontaneous road trip.
We started Happy GenX Couple for two kinds of people: those who are head over heels in love after years together and just want to keep the good thing going, and those who feel like somewhere along the way the spark got a little quiet and are looking for ways to bring it back. We've had seasons of both, and we're here for wherever you are right now.
We share what's actually working for us: the trips, the dinners, the kitchen experiments, the conversations, the little rituals that keep a long marriage feeling like a choice you'd make all over again.
We'd love to hear from you too. Drop a comment on any post that resonates, or reach out directly, and make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss a thing! The best part of doing this is the people we get to meet along the way.
Welcome to our little corner of the internet. We're glad you're here.
Warren & Veldene
